Bluetooth Pairing Guide

Select your Bluetooth device to receive detailed setup instructions

  Set Geneva Sound System Model XS to Bluetooth Pairing Mode.

  1. Turn on Model XS.
  2. Press the M button until the display shows “bLUE”.
  3. An “S” will blink for up to 20 seconds while searching for last connected devices.
  4. A “P” will blink for up to 120 seconds while searching for new bluetooth devices to pair with.
  5. A “C” will display when bluetooth device is connected.
  6. If pairing is unsuccessful, repeat procedure.

  Apple iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Select Bluetooth and set to ON.
  4. Under Devices searching will automatically begin.
  5. Select Geneva XS when it appears.

• Apple iPod Touch (4th generation), iPod Touch (3rd generation)

  Set Geneva Sound System Model XS to Bluetooth Pairing Mode.

  1. Turn on Model XS.
  2. Press the M button until the display shows “bLUE”.

• Apple Mac OS X 10.7 – Lion

  Set Geneva Sound System Model XS to Bluetooth Pairing Mode.

  1. Turn on Model XS.
  2. Press the M button until the display shows “bLUE”.
  3. An “S” will blink for up to 20 seconds while searching for last connected devices.
  4. A “P” will blink for up to 120 seconds while searching for new bluetooth devices to pair with.
  5. A “C” will display when bluetooth device is connected.
  6. If pairing is unsuccessful, repeat procedure.

  Apple Mac OS X 10.7 – Lion

  1. Select System Preferences.
  2. Select Bluetooth.
  3. Click checkboxes for On and Discoverable.
  4. Click on the “+” to setup new device.
  5. Select Geneva XS, then click Continue.
  6. Select Quit.
  7. The Bluetooth icon should be in black indicating it is ON.
  8. Click on Bluetooth icon.
  9. Select Geneva XS Sound System.
  10. Click on Use as Audio Device.
  11. Mac is now setup to stream audio via bluetooth to Geneva XS.
  12. To close bluetooth audio connection and use internal Mac speaker select Don’t Use as Audio Device.

• BlackBerry Smartphones – Bold, Curve, Pearl, Style, Torch

  Set Geneva Sound System Model XS to Bluetooth Pairing Mode.

  1. Turn on Model XS.
  2. Press the M button until the display shows “bLUE”.
  3. An “S” will blink for up to 20 seconds while searching for last connected devices.
  4. A “P” will blink for up to 120 seconds while searching for new bluetooth devices to pair with.
  5. A “C” will display when bluetooth device is connected.

  1. Press the BlackBerry button.
  2. Select Manage Connections.
  3. Select Bluetooth to turn it on.
  4. Select Bluetooth Connections.
  5. Select Add New Devices.
  6. Select Search.
  7. Select Geneva XS.
  8. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000” and select YES.
  9. Phone is now connected to Geneva XS.

  Connect to Geneva XS after BlackBerry is already paired

  1. Press BlackBerry button.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select Bluetooth.
  4. Select Geneva XS.
  5. Select Connect.

  2. Select Bluetooth.
  3. Set both Bluetooth and Discoverable to ON.

  6. From the Found Devices list, select Geneva XS.
  7. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000”.
  8. Tablet is now connected with Geneva XS.

  1. From the Start screen select the All Programs arrow.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Bluetooth and set to ON.
  4. Select Geneva XS.
  5. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000”.
  6. Phone is now connected to Geneva XS.

  HTC Jetstream, Sensation

  1. From the home screen, select All Apps.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Wireless & networks.
  4. Select Bluetooth to turn on.
  5. Select Bluetooth Settings.
  6. Select Find Nearby Devices.
  7. Select Scan For Devices.
  8. Select Geneva XS.
  9. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000”.
  10. Tablet is now connected to Geneva XS.

  HTC HD2

  1. From the Home screen slide to the Settings tab.
  2. Select Menu.
  3. Select All Settings.
  4. Select Bluetooth and Yes to turn on.
  5. Select Add.
  6. Select Geneva XS.
  7. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000”.

  3. Select Wireless & networks.
  4. Select Bluetooth and turn ON.

  1. From the Start screen select the → or go to the App list.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Systems.
  4. Select Bluetooth (search for devices automatically starts).
  5. Select Geneva XS.
  6. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000”.
  7. Phone is now connected to Geneva XS.

• Motorola Smartphones

  Set Geneva Sound System Model XS to Bluetooth Pairing Mode.

  1. Turn on Model XS.
  2. Press the M button until the display shows “bLUE”.
  3. An “S” will blink for up to 20 seconds while searching for last connected devices.
  4. A “P” will blink for up to 120 seconds while searching for new bluetooth devices to pair with.
  5. A “C” will display when bluetooth device is connected.

  1. Make sure that the Geneva XS is on and mode is set to “bLUE”.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Wireless and network.
  4. Select Bluetooth to turn it On.
  5. Select Bluetooth Settings.
  6. Select Scan For Devices.
  7. Phone will scan for available Bluetooth devices.
  8. Select Geneva XS device.
  9. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000”.
  10. Phone is now connected with Geneva XS.

• Motorola Xoom

  Set Geneva Sound System Model XS to Bluetooth Pairing Mode

  1. Turn on Model XS.
  2. Press the M button until the display shows “bLUE”.
  3. An “S” will blink for up to 20 seconds while searching for last connected devices.

  5. Select Options (you may need to access from main menu).
  6. Select New Paired Device.
  7. Select Geneva XS.
  8. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000”.
  9. Phone is now connected with Geneva XS.

  1. Turn on Model XS.
  2. Press the M button until the display shows “bLUE”.

  1. Slide phone up.
  2. Select OK/Menu.
  3. Select 9. Settings and Tools.
  4. Select 4. Bluetooth, and turn ON.
  5. Select 1. Add New Device.
  6. Message will display: “Place device you are connecting into discoverable mode.”
  7. Select OK.
  8. Select Geneva XS and OK.
  9. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000”.
  10. Select the Options (right soft key).
  11. Select Always Ask, or Always OK and select YES.
  12. Phone is now connected to Geneva XS.

  Pantech Link I, II

  1. Select Menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Connectivity.
  4. Select Bluetooth.
  5. Select Activation and set to ON.
  6. Select Visibility and set to Show.
  7. From the Bluetooth menu, select Search.

  1. Turn on Model XS.

  3. Select Wireless and network.
  4. Select Bluetooth set to ON.
  5. Select Discoverable and set to ON.
  6. Select Scan for Devices.
  7. Select Geneva XS.
  8. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000”.
  9. Phone is now connected with Geneva XS.

  Samsung Convoy

  1. From the Home screen OK for Menu.
  2. Select 9 from the keypad to select Settings and Tools.
  3. Select 3 from the keypad to select Bluetooth Menu.
  4. Select the – (left soft key) to turn bluetooth ON.
  5. From the Bluetooth Menu, select Add New Device and then OK.
  6. Select Geneva XS and then OK.
  7. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000” and then OK.
  8. Select YES.
  9. Phone is now connected with Geneva XS.

  Samsung TXT Gravity

  1. From the Home screen, select Menu (LSK).
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Bluetooth and turn ON.
  4. Select My Visibility.
  5. Highlight On, and press Select (LSK).
  6. Select My Devices.
  7. Select Search New Device.
  8. Select Geneva XS.
  9. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000” and then OK.
  10. Phone is now connected with Geneva XS.

  Samsung Vibrant

  1. Select Applications.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Wireless and network.
  4. Select Bluetooth settings.
  5. Select Bluetooth and set to ON.
  6. Select Visible and set to ON.
  7. Select Scan Devices.

  2. Select Bluetooth and set to ON.

  Set Geneva Sound System Model XS to Bluetooth Pairing Mode.

  1. Turn on Model XS.
  2. Press the M button until the display shows “bLUE”.

  1. Select Apps and swipe to second screen.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Wireless and Networks.
  4. Select Bluetooth and checkbox to turn ON.
  5. Select Bluetooth Settings.
  6. Select Find nearby devices.
  7. Select Geneva XS.
  8. If a PIN/Password number is requested, enter “0000”.
  9. Tablet is now connected with the Geneva XS.

• Windows 7

  Set Geneva Sound System Model XS to Bluetooth Pairing Mode.

  1. Turn on Model XS.
  2. Press the M button until the display shows “bLUE”.
  3. An “S” will blink for up to 20 seconds while searching for last connected devices.
  4. A “P” will blink for up to 120 seconds while searching for new bluetooth devices to pair with.
  5. A “C” will display when bluetooth device is connected.
  6. If pairing is unsuccessful, repeat procedure.

  Windows 7

  1. From the Start Menu, select Control Panel.
  2. Under Hardware and Sound, select Add a device.
  3. A bluetooth headset icon will appear. Wait a few more seconds and it will update to Geneva XS. Select Geneva XS and then select Next.
  4. A window will display This device has been successfully added to this computer. Select Close.
  5. In the lower right corner of display, you will see Installing Device Driver.
  6. In the lower right corner of display, you will see Bluetooth AV.
  7. From the Start Menu, select Devices and Printers.
  8. Select Geneva XS.
  9. The Bluetooth Headset Operations and Settings window will open. Select Connect.
  10. Windows 7 PC is now connected to Geneva XS.

  Disconnect Windows 7 Bluetooth Audio from Geneva XS

  1. From the Start Menu select Devices and Printers.
  2. Select Geneva XS Sound System.
  3. The Bluetooth Headset Operations and Settings window will open. Select Disconnect.
  4. Windows 7 PC is now disconnected from Geneva XS.

  IMPORTANT: Not all PC’s running Windows 7 will be Bluetooth compatible with the Geneva XS. If your PC has an internal Broadcom Bluetooth hardware device, try the following:

  1. Download and install the latest Broadcom bluetooth driver – http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php.
  2. Select NEXT when installation is complete.
  3. Select Reboot to complete the installation. Do not select DONE or the installation will not complete.
  4. Follow the Windows 7 Bluetooth setup instructions above.

• Windows XP (SP2, SP3)

  Set Geneva Sound System Model XS to Bluetooth Pairing Mode.

  1. Turn on Model XS.
  2. Press the M button until the display shows “bLUE”.
  3. An “S” will blink for up to 20 seconds while searching for last connected devices.

“low” and “batt” means low battery. Connect the power adapter to the Model XS and the battery will begin charging. You can use the Model XS right away.

The Model XS will not turn on, nothing happens.

If the battery is very low, there is too little power to turn on the display, even if the power adapter is connected. Model XS can be turned on after it has been connected for a few minutes to the power adapter.

Why is the Model XS turning off after a while?

After one minute the device will automatically turn itself off, when it is not in the correct position.

The Model XS does not turn on when I touch the power button (the power button is the small, round depression, referred as “O” in the user manual).

Touch the power button with one finger only. Don’t touch the rest of the touch panel with other fingers. The touch panel works properly when used with one finger only.

After turning on, the Model XS turns itself quickly off and on again.

Model XS automatically self-calibrates the touch panel for a second time. This is the correct behavior and is nothing to worry about.

What is the meaning of the charging LED?

Charging LED: dot on the lower right corner of the display.

1. On: battery is fully charged.
2. Blinking: needs charge soon OR battery is charging (power adapter is inserted).
3. Off: battery level is somewhere between discharged and fully charged.

I have an unreliable connection with dropouts when listening via Bluetooth.

1. Move the mobile phone closer to the Model XS.
2. Move away or turn off other wireless devices that can disturb a Bluetooth connection (for example WLAN / Wifi, other mobile phones etc.).

Model XS connects to a phone (“C” on the display) but I can’t find this phone.

If a “C” is displayed, a successful connection has been made. This even happens if a phone is “off”. For example the iPhone has a black screen – it is only in standby. iPhones connect even in standby mode. Workaround: reset the Bluetooth (see above), pair again.

How do I know if the battery is charging?

How can I check the battery charge?

A dot on the lower right corner of the display shows the battery status:

1. On: battery fully charged.
2. Blinking: battery charging.
3. If the battery is low, the display will also show “low” and “batt”. In this case the Model XS will automatically turn off, but it still has enough power to show the time for a while.

How do I change the battery?

1. Carefully open the battery lid with a flat top screwdriver or a paper clip. Using a paper clip: open it, bend the first 5mm in a 45 deg angle, push tip into the hole.
2. Remove the used battery and replace it with a new one. Only use an original XS battery replacement from Geneva. You can order the battery by contacting us.
3. Insert the new battery while following the instructions under “Getting started” in the manual.

When do I need to change the battery?

Every rechargeable battery has a life time. If the battery last only a very short time (less than half an hour) after a full charge, a battery should be replaced.

Sound

The sound output seems too low.

Turn the volume on the mobile phone or audio device up.

Why is the unit louder when it is connected to a power adapter?

When the Model XS is battery powered, the maximum volume is limited to maximize battery life.

XS does not sound correct.

Check the Equalizer (EQ) settings on your iPhone/mobile phone: turn off any special setting (“Acoustic”, “Extra Bass”, etc.). These settings will change the way the music sounds, the Model XS has already been optimized for optimized sound reproduction, there is no additional setting needed.

Is Model XS playing music in stereo?

Yes.

Alarm

Why is the alarm not working when the case is closed?

The alarm does not work in this position because the device power is off. However, the clock is still running.

Radio

A radio station has a weak reception and is noisy. What can I do?

1. Make sure you are using the built-in telescope antenna.
2. If the power adapter is plugged in: keep the power adapter cable away from antenna.
